Forbidden promise

The clock strike 5. The morning sunshine passes through the small hole, penetrating my skin. I glance outside from the window pane, breathing the warmth of the fresh air, gently touching the best gift He has given me. Then, I smiled.

This feeling’s kind of different. It’s hard. It’s painful. Yet it’s wonderful. I know this will be worth anything. I promise you, I’ll do everything I can. I’ll let you see the beauty of life. I’ll take care of you. I’ll never let anyone take you away from my arms. Then, I smiled again.

Unexpectedly, I felt a strange thing inside my womb. She’s moving so rapidly. She’s responding to what I just said. It seems like she heard me. I’m so excited! Oh God, I can’t wait!

As I took my first step towards the outside, I can eventually sense the blood running through my quavering legs. It’s flowing continuously. I don’t know what to do. The ache’s getting worse!

“Sshhh… Carry on. You can do it. She’ll be with us anytime now. Hold on honey, please hold on for us.” Then, he smiled with much hope inside.

Yes. Undeniably, I did everything I can. I didn’t even let the pain overpower me. I was trying so hard. I was grasping my every breath for you. I was keeping my promise to you.

But God’s plan prevailed. I can no longer continue to grant my promises to you. I’m sorry. But I still thanked Him because He saved you. Your soft hair, your gentle skin, you’re cute little brown eyes, I’ll always be thankful for that. Enjoy the gift of life my beloved daughter. I’ll go ahead. Always remember, I’ll watch over you and daddy. I love you. Mommy loves you so much.
